The Basar Confluence Residency Program, set against the stunning landscape of Basar in Arunachal Pradesh, offers artists a rare opportunity to engage deeply with the region’s unique cultural heritage and vibrant community. Through immersive, collaborative projects, residents will create new works that celebrate the intersection of tradition and contemporary practice, drawing from Basar’s rich artistic and natural resources.

Throughout the residency, artists will have access to an extensive network of local experts, artisans, and tradition bearers, offering a direct link to the region’s oral and material heritage. This includes storytelling, indigenous crafts, and time-honored folk music traditions, allowing residents to explore the complexities of Basar’s heritage through close engagement with its people and landscape.
The works developed during the residency may span diverse forms—whether performance, sound, visual art, or multimedia installations—and will be shared with the Basar Confluence community. By connecting artists with Basar’s unique cultural resources, the residency aims to cultivate meaningful works that honor heritage while inspiring new approaches for the future.
